Find the Best Clash Royale Deck to Use for Any Game

Deck composition plays a big role in securing victory for any Clash Royale match. A great build almost guarantees a win, while a poorly composed one spells certain defeat. But if you're struggling to put together a lineup that works for your current needs, referring to the strongest compositions in the game should be a great way to start performing better.

The igitems Top Decks page shows the various compositions used by active players. You'll see everything from trending builds to those specialized for specific content. Head over to the page to get started.

Using the Deck Finder

Upon viewing the page, you'll find some of the best-performing builds based on recent game activity. You can finetune your search to find the best cards that should be included in the composition you're looking for, and which should be excluded.

There's also an option to refine your search based on certain parameters. These include the type of content you're looking to find setups for, the time frame during which the results shown performed well, and how to sort the obtained results. Making full use of these filters will allow you to find the loadouts that best suit your needs.

Important Information to Note When Evaluating Builds

Other notable stats matter when looking for the right build. Here are three important ones. These can also be used to filter your search so that you can find something as close to your ideal composition as possible.

Performance Rates

After filtering the type of game you're looking to play, check on various performance stats attributed to each build. A win rate that is higher than the loss rate is a good starting point. You should also check the number of games played, as a high win rate doesn't mean much if a composition has only been used a hundred times.

Average Elixir Cost

High elixir costs for cards mean that you'll need to do a lot more waiting to be able to deploy that card. Having a high-cost card is not a bad thing, but having a whole lineup of them can be debilitating. Check the average elixir cost for each build to see if it's even practical to use. But don't dismiss those high-cost compositions — there's still a place for them after all.

4-Card Cycle

After playing your main cards, it can be difficult to get that card back into your hand, so it helps to know how soon you can expect to do so. The 4-card cycle of each build is a good way to measure that. This tells you the total elixir cost of the 4 lowest-costing cards in a lineup, meaning a composition with a 7 here will need that much elixir to unload its 4 cheapest cards and possibly recover its bread and butter.

A lower 4-card rotation figure means you're potentially faster at recovering the cards you play, meaning you can go back to your main plays sooner.

Builds You Can Find on the Clash Royale Decks Page

Now that we know how to navigate the Top Decks page, as well as filter the results to find exactly what we're looking for, let's look at some of the most notable builds you can find. These include compositions for different situations, as well as setups that use specific units.

Top Competitive Builds

The strongest units in the game are always changing, making it difficult to keep track of every shift. By checking the top compositions periodically, you'll find ideas on which units to use for your builds.

The current meta in Clash Royale shifts with every balance patch, and what top players use today may change by next season. Understanding the clash royale meta means looking beyond individual cards — it's about synergy between units and how different strategic choices counter each other. A strong new meta emerges whenever a card gets buffed, often reshuffling which single-target and air defense options are viable. Tracking these shifts helps you stay competitive regardless of ladder or challenge format.

Archer Queen Decks

Champion cards often sit at the core of great builds, and this one is no different. At a 5-elixir cost, the Archer Queen can deal burst damage while using her cloak ability. Compositions using the Archer Queen are usually on the low-cost side, making it easy to rotate back to the signature unit and keep applying pressure on the opponent.

Hog Cycle Decks

The 2.6 hog cycle deck remains one of the most iconic fast-rotation archetypes in the game. Built around the hog rider, musketeer, and fireball, this fast setup focuses on quick rotations and constant pressure. The 2.6 refers to the average elixir cost, making it one of the cheapest competitive builds available.

Players who prefer a fast-paced hog strategy often pair the log with Valkyrie for ground-based defense before counter-pushing. The beauty of any hog composition is that it punishes slow opponents — once you master the rotation, you can deploy your hog rider before they can mount a proper response.

Mega Knight Decks and Hero Knight Decks

This heavy-hitter is usable both offensively and defensively. It has splash damage, making it great for clearing mobs and pushers, although it loses out to heavy tanks. Among popular builds, pairing this unit with miner creates a strong control-based composition — the miner chips the tower while the tank handles defensive duties. For better utility, find lower-cost builds to rotate faster or risk being pressured while unable to defend.

Skeleton king decks have surged in popularity thanks to the champion's ability to summon fallen troops. Paired with swarm units, this champion creates overwhelming pushes that are difficult to counter. Royal ghost builds offer a stealthier approach, using the ghost's invisibility to bypass defenses and chip away at towers. For hero-based compositions, hero giant decks and hero musketeer decks each offer distinct approaches — the former leans into tanky beatdown while the latter focuses on ranged support and coverage.

Hero knight is another unit that's great for both offense and defense, and at just a 3-elixir cost, is easy to manage. As a hero unit, this is not a card you can use right away. But once you get access, you'll have a great tank with a wide area taunt for keeping enemy units occupied for a good while.

Log Bait Decks

The log bait archetype is a strategy-heavy archetype that forces opponents to waste their log on less critical targets. By running multiple bait units like goblin barrel, skeleton army, and princess, you create scenarios where at least one swarm gets through unchecked. Goblin drill decks work on a similar principle, pressuring from underground while the opponent scrambles to respond.

What makes bait strategies so effective is the constant decision-making pressure they impose. Every small spell your opponent plays opens a window for your real damage dealers to connect with the tower.

Electro Giant Decks

While mostly an offense unit, Electro Giant is also great at defense, and most builds centered on this unit have very formidable defense. Standard electro giant setups use Knight in tandem, with Phoenix as the anti-air option. Don't be afraid to experiment, though. While it costs you a lot of trophies to fail, using the Top Decks page should ensure a certain degree of potency.

Beatdown and Bridge Spam Decks

Beatdown builds revolve around building massive pushes behind a tank. The royal giant is a popular beatdown win condition that targets buildings directly, while P.E.K.K.A compositions combine raw power with strong defensive capabilities. For a more unconventional approach, the giant graveyard deck pairs a tank with swarm damage for a dual-threat push.

Bridge spam setups take a different approach — ram rider and royal hogs apply split-lane pressure that is hard to defend efficiently. These compositions reward aggressive playstyle and quick decision-making, punishing opponents who over-commit elixir on one side of the arena.

Double Elixir Decks and Triple Elixir Decks

Remember that section above where we discussed high-cost compositions? This is where they can shine. Double Elixir and Triple Elixir game modes allow for much faster recovery, making it possible to run expensive lineups. Results will vary between double and triple, so make sure to check those rates thoroughly.

Challenge, Heist, Ramp Up, and 2v2 Decks

Finding the right Clash Royale decks for challenges requires a different mindset than ladder play — challenge matches are tournament-standard, so card levels are equalized. Heist decks prioritize fast, direct damage to the opponent's safe, often using Miner or Goblin Barrel for chip damage. Ramp-up decks benefit from the gradually increasing elixir rate, making mid-cost compositions stronger as the match progresses. For cooperative play, the best 2v2 decks emphasize coordination between both players' hands rather than individual deck strength.

Sudden Death Decks

Sudden Death involves racing to destroy one of the opponent's towers, resulting in an instant win. This really changes the game dynamics, and even dominant units are not guaranteed to perform as well as they usually do. The situation in which sudden death comes into play makes it complicated, since it is still part of regular matches but kicks in only when the time limit expires, and a winner still hasn't been determined.

Various Ladder Decks

Different ladders will have different accessible cards, so end-game builds may not be available. You can check the top-performing setups for any ladder, such as early or mid, to try to make your ascent faster and more efficient.
